2026 President’s Cup Knockout Competition

This year, in addition to the Senior Men’s Competition, the league has created a Senior Women’s Knockout Competition, and teams have been invited to compete.

Once all entries have been submitted, the draws will be made, and the dates by which matches must be completed will appear on this page.

Note that the Final of the two competitions will be held at Marlborough College Pool in October.


The draw has been completed for the early rounds and the Semi-Finals of the Bristol & West Water Polo League’s Knockout Competitions.

Men’s Senior Team Knockout

The draw for the semi-final of the men’s competition was completed on Tuesday, July 7th, by Elodie Coles, grand-daughter of Match Secretary Mike Coles, and Phil Whiting, the league’s president.

Semi-Final Draw

Games to be completed by September 16th, 2026. Handicaps will be issued in due course.

  • Swindon Dolphin vs. Swansea (to be played at Marlborough)
  • Bradford on Avon vs. Weston-super-Mare (to be played at Bradford)

Round 1 (Completed by May 31st, 2026)

  • Swansea vs. City of Newport: Swansea met their fellow Welsh opponents on Tuesday, May 19th at the Wales National Pool. The home side were awarded a 14-goal start and took a 24-17 victory to progress.
  • Newton Abbot vs. Swindon Dolphin: The cup holders, Swindon Dolphin, made the trek from Wiltshire down to Devon. Given an 8-goal start over the Division 1 side, Swindon came away with a 15-18 victory to advance.

Round 2 (Completed by June 30th, 2026)

  • City of Bristol Harlequins vs. Weston-super-Mare: Weston-super-Mare overcame City of Bristol Harlequins at Hengrove. Despite Harlequins starting with a 4-goal handicap, Weston fought back strongly to finish as 12-20 victors and book their place in the semis.
  • Frome vs. Swindon Dolphin: Swindon Dolphin overcame their Somerset rivals 13-19. The visitors were given a 9-goal start, which Frome ultimately could not overcome.
  • Swansea vs. City of Bristol: Playing at the Wales National Pool on June 16th, Swansea were awarded a 14-goal start against the Premier League side. City of Bristol traveled with just nine players and were unable to break down the handicap, leaving Swansea to take a 20-17 win.
  • Bradford on Avon vs. Devonport Royal: Bradford on Avon secured their spot early with a comprehensive 22-9 victory over Devonport Royal, overcoming the handicap set for the Plymouth-based Division 1 side.

Senior Women’s Knockout Competition

This year, the league is delighted to introduce the inaugural Senior Women’s Knockout Competition alongside the men’s event.

Round 1, to be completed by May 31st, 2026

City of Bristol versus Welsh Wanderers

Welsh Wanderers travelled over the Bridge to Bristol to face tough opposition from Conference League Winners, City of Bristol. They were awarded a 10-goal start over their rivals, but it was not enough, and Bristol netted 23 goals, to win 23-18.

Semi-Finals

Games to be completed by July 31st, 2026.

  • Devonport Royal vs. Newton Abbot: Played on Tuesday, June 30th at the Plymouth Life Centre. The handicap committee awarded Devonport Royal an eight-goal advantage, but the home side proved much stronger than anticipated, securing a definitive 21-8 victory to book their place in the final.
  • Exeter vs. City of Bristol

Round 1 (Completed by May 31st, 2026)

  • City of Bristol vs. Welsh Wanderers: Welsh Wanderers traveled over the bridge to face a tough Conference League-winning City of Bristol side. Wanderers were awarded a 10-goal start, but Bristol’s strong offense netted 23 goals to finish 23-18 winners.

The Finals for both competitions will take place at Marlborough College Pool this October. Precise dates and times will be published here as soon as they are finalized.
