Newly promoted Taunton Deane faced opposition from fellow Somerset team, Frome, who had been demoted last year from the Premier League, and it was a tough baptism.

However, in the second period Frome started to show their superiority and by the half-way stage had a built a five goal lead at 5-10.

In the third quarter they continued to extend the lead and were 6-13 up,, but in the final period a tiring Taunton team were finding it tough against the visitors who netted a further four goals without loss.

Taunton’s coach, Simon Tomlinson, who recently coached the 18 and under Swim England South West Ladies Team to victory in the Swim England Inter Region’s Competition, was equal top scorer with Rob Pryke with two apiece, and there was one each for Mikael Vtornikov and Milo Barrett.

Frome’s goal scorers were Chris Hodges with five, three each for Brad Poole and Charlie Hinder, two for Martyn Hodges and Frazer Thompson, and once apiece for Mark Edmonds and Matt Hann.
