The Management Committee met for their final meeting of 2019 to discuss the now rewritten rules of the league to bring them up to the 21st Century.
The rules have been basically remained the same since the formation of the league back in 1957 when it was known as the Bristol & District League, with tweaks over the years which have made them rather disjointed and no longer fit for purpose.
The league requested the help of Solicitor James Baker and challenged him to revisit the rules of the league, with some guidance, and the majority of the meeting was spent going through what James had provided. The league is very grateful with his help in this and we look forward to presenting these rules to the membership in due course and will be seeking their approval of the forthcoming Annual General Meeting and Fixture Meeting which has been scheduled for Tuesday 28th January 2020, 7.30 pm, at The Lamb Inn, High Street, Worle, Weston-super-Mare. Also discussed at the meeting was unplayed fixtures due to various reasons, and because they do not have any effect on the final positions of the league, such as promotion and relegation issues, it was decided to make them all 0-0 draws, and this is reflected in the final league tables.
The teams for next year have also been published in preparation for next season, and teams are recommended to make contact with the other teams, prior to the fixture meeting, and try to avoid such things as school holidays, Bank Holidays, dates already published for the Regional Training Sessions and Inter-Regions (dates published on Swim England website), and also the British Water Polo League weekends starting in September.
Please note that this was the majority decision of the Management Committee and further discussion will not take place on their decisions.
