Devon rivals Exeter and Newton Abbot saw their Ladies Teams open the 2019 BWWPL Season.

Exeter’s Team comprised many new faces including Club debuts for Zandi Nbuvane, Nyah Tomlinson, Isobel Ewen and Ella-Louise Jones. Exeter made an impressive start going 6-0 up at the end of the first quarter, with Newton Abbot’s GB star Robyn Greenslade being well marked throughout. Newton were unable to recover from the early pace setting of Exeter, with the home side winning out 18-4.

The Premier Division match between the two sides followed, and 11 of Exeter’s outfield players found the back of the net in a one-sided match that ended 28-9. This was despite GB Goal-Keeper Tom Manley’s best efforts, notably saving 9 shots in the first quarter alone despite his team ending the quarter 5-2 down). Exeter’s new younger players scored on their debut for the Club – Harry Wheeler and Milo Barrett with one goal each. Darren Heagarty was the lead marksman for Exeter (6) and Rob Harvey for Newton (5).
