A strong Barbarians team put a Weston team lacking numbers to the test in a recent Division 1 game played at Hengrove, which saw the visitors from the Seaside go down 24-10.
The Barbarians team included in their number, Joe Hubble, who had just been selected to play for the England 19 and under team, and although missing their captain and chief coach, John Sissons, his deputy in Nick Hume replaced him and was a force to be reckoned with, scoring five goals for the Barbarians.
However, the star of the City of Bristol team was Hubble, who netted eight of their goals, with Nathan Brown netting a double hat-trick.
Weston’s captain, Reece Trapani led his team by example, scoring four goals, whilst Liam Coles got a hat trick.
However the Weston side lacked depth, and by the end period, despite putting up a spirited fight, were running on empty, having given their all, but they could not repeat the draw they had exacted on the Bristol side at their home shallow end pool.
