Cwm Draig



Welcome to Cwm Draig Water Polo Club. We are the competitive water polo club for Rhondda Cynon Taf, and consist of three teams; Junior, Senior Women and Senior Men, who compete in the Bristol & West Water Polo League and the Welsh Water Polo League for their respective squad level.

We have mixed club training for Junior, Senior Women and Senior Men squads on Thursdays evenings, 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Sobell Leisure Centre. Enquire about the club for more details.
The Sobell Leisure Centre in Aberdare hosts home matches that are arranged on Thursdays evenings. Alternatively, the Bronwydd Swimming Pool in Porth is our usual venue for home matches arranged for Saturday or Sunday. The News section of our website, as well as our social media platforms, shall provide information on upcoming games.

Achievements of club members

  • Cwm Draig has developed and supported many club members to progress up to the pinnacle of the sport and to achieve several accomplishments. This includes: ​
  • Countless members representing the Wales national water polo team at inter-regional and international level., for Junior, Senior Women and Senior Men elite team.​
  • Several Dragons competing for Wales in international tournaments, such as North Sea Cup and EU Nations for their respective squad level.
  • Numerous youth and Junior players being called up for their respective​ Great Britain national water polo team.
  • A representative in the Great Britain Olympic men’s national water polo team and for Wales in the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
  • The Senior Men winning the 2017 BWWPL President’s Knock-Out Cup.
